In Italian today it is "eruttare" and, in Spanish, "eructar." The verb stem ruct- comes from Proto-Indo-European *reug- which turned up in English as "reek" via Old English reocan "to smoke, reek." In Lithuanian it emerged as raugeti "belch" and Greek as ereugomai "to vomit." In Swedish it is "rapa" and Norwegian "rype." âroq (be bâlâ be negarid !)
