In English it became "dough" and "dairy," from Middle English daie "dairymaid," a descendant of Old English dæge "(bread) kneader." "Paradise" comes from the Old Iranian noun pairidaeza-, "a wall enclosing a garden or orchard," composed of pairi "around," and daeza "wall," something else that is built or formed.
