"Affront" comes from Old French affronter, a descendent of the Latin phrase ad frontem "to the face." Latin "frons" also referred to those emotions, such as shame and boldness, expressed by the brow. This root is probably also related to English "brow," Russian "brov'," and Greek "ophrus," all meaning the same thing. brun-pišâni (pbp. !!) 1 bi-cašm-o-ru ! bi-šarm 2 gostâx por-ru
